Guns N' Roses

Guns N' Roses es una banda de hard rock estadounidense que se formó en Hollywood, Los Ángeles, California en 1985. El grupo fue formado a principios de 1985 por miembros de Hollywood Rose, Axl Rose (voz),Izzy Stradlin (guitarrista ritmico), y de L.A. Guns, Tracii Guns (guitarra solista), Ole Beich (bajo) y Rob Gardner (batería). El nombre de la banda fue creado a partir de los nombres de ambas bandas, y quedó como Guns N' Roses. Al poco tiempo, el bajista Ole Beich fue despedido y reemplazado por Duff McKagan. Después de poco, Tracii Guns también fue despedido y reemplazado por Slash. Slash había tocado con Duff en una banda llamada Road Crew y con Izzy un corto período en Hollywood Rose. Con la nueva formación salieron en una especie de gira por Sacramento, California y Seattle, Rob Gardner fue reemplazado en batería por el amigo de Slash Steven Adler. La banda, a pesar de estos cambios, siguió llamándose Guns N' Roses, y Tracii no se opuso a esto. Entablada ya esta formación clásica, empezó una gira llamada Hell Tour.. La formación actual cuenta con el vocalista Axl Rose, como único miembro original del grupo, acompañado por los guitarristas Ron «Bumblefoot» Thal, DJ Ashba y Richard Fortus, el bajista Tommy Stinson, el baterísta Frank Ferrer y los teclistas Dizzy Reed y Chris Pitman. La banda ha publicado oficialmente seis álbumes de estudio, tres EP, un álbum en directo y un recopilatorio.

AC/DC es una banda comunmente considerada Hard Rock pioneros del Heavy Metal, formada en Sídney (Australia) en 1973 por los hermanos escoceses Malcolm y Angus Young.

Desde el principio se hicieron famosas sus actuaciones en directo, gracias en parte al extravagante estilo de su guitarrista principal, Angus Young, generalmente vestido con uniforme de colegial en los conciertos. En 1976, coincidiendo con el lanzamiento del disco Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, se trasladaron a Gran Bretaña, de donde procedían los hermanos Young, concretamente de ascendencia escocesa, e inmediatamente ocuparon los primeros puestos de ventas con discos como Let There Be Rock (1977) y Powerage (1978), a los que siguieron If You Want Blood You've Got It (1978) y el disco Highway to Hell (1979), del que se vendieron millones de copias. El 19 de febrero de 1980, el vocalista Bon Scott falleció por intoxicación etílica en el asiento trasero del coche de su amigo Alistair Kinnear y fue sustituido por Brian Johnson, quien pertenecía al grupo Geordie.
Aunque llegaron a Gran Bretaña en pleno auge del punk rock, en poco tiempo obtuvieron una enorme aceptación del público. El álbum Back in Black (1980) alcanzó el primer lugar en la lista de los discos más vendidos del país y los catapultó a Estados Unidos. En la segunda mitad de la década de 1980, una serie de acontecimientos personales hicieron creer que el grupo ya había pasado sus mejores momentos, aunque sus discos se mantuvieron en las listas de éxitos hasta la década de 1990. En 1993, el sencillo “Big Gun”, que utilizaron para la banda sonora de la película El último gran héroe, de John McTiernan e interpretada por Arnold Schwarzenegger; alcanzó de nuevo las listas de los más vendidos en Gran Bretaña. En 1995, grabaron el disco Ballbreaker,en el 2000 lanzaron Stiff Upper Lip, en el que proclaman su fidelidad al rock más rebelde, y en el 2008 lanzaron Black Ice.
Han vendido alrededor de 200 millones de álbumes en todo el mundo, y de ellos 70 millones han sido vendidos en los Estados Unidos. Back in Black ha vendido más de 50 millones de unidades en el mundo y más de 22 millones solo Estados Unidos, De manera que es el 5º álbum de mayor venta de todos los tiempos en los EE. UU. y el 2ª entre los álbumes más vendidos de toda la historia detrás de Thriller en el mundo. Han llegado a ocupar el cuarto puesto en la lista de VH1 "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock" (Los 100 mejores artistas de Hard Rock) y ocuparon el 7º puesto en la lista de MTV "Greatest Heavy Metal Band Of All Time" (Las mejores bandas de Heavy Metal de todos los tiempos). Además la canción "Back In Black" se ubicó en el segundo puesto en el programa "Las 100 más Grandiosas Canciones del Hard Rock", del canal VH1. Además la revista Q magazine les colocó en el primer lugar en su lista: "Los 50 grupos que debes ver antes de morir".

Pearl Jam

Pearl Jam es una banda de rock conformada en Seattle, Estados Unidos en el año 1990. La alineación original del grupo estaba formada por Eddie Vedder (voz), Jeff Ament (bajo), Stone Gossard (guitarra rítmica), Mike McCready (guitarra principal) y Dave Krusen (batería). El baterista en la formación actual es Matt Cameron, ex-miembro de Soundgarden, que está en el grupo desde 1998.
Formada después de la desintegración de Mother Love Bone, grupo anterior de Ament y Gossard, Pearl Jam rompería el gran mercado con su álbum debut Ten. A pesar de ser considerados como uno de los grupos clave dentro de la escena grunge al inicio de los años noventa, Pearl Jam ha sido criticado en repetidas ocasiones por ser parte del corporativo que se vendió con la explosión del rock alternativo. Sin embargo, sus miembros siempre se han caracterizado por su rechazo a adherirse a las prácticas comunes de la industria musical, como por ejemplo negarse a realizar videos promocionales o a su famoso boicot a la empresa Ticketmaster. La revista Rolling Stone los describe como un grupo que "pasó la mayor parte de la década pasada destruyendo su propia fama".
Pearl Jam es considerado uno de los grupos más importantes de la década de 1990. Desde su debut, el grupo ha vendido 30 millones de álbumes en los Estados Unidos, y un estimado de 60 millones en todo el mundo.

Mr. Big

Mr. Big es un grupo musical de Hard rock formado en Estados Unidos en 1988. Está integrado por Eric Martin (voz), Paul Gilbert (guitarra), Billy Sheehan (bajo) y Pat Torpey (batería); también pasó por la formación el guitarrista Richie Kotzen -reemplazando a Gilbert en 1999.
A pesar de caracterizarse por un sonido áspero, su repertorio cuenta con baladas y canciones con diversos estilos musicales.
